Youth Programs

Each class curriculum has been developed to challenge each student and encourages them to achieve their personal best using positive teaching techniques with emphasis placed on correct body alignment, terminology and proper execution of positions, exercises and steps.

Dance Movement I– Structured for children age 3 and 4. Class is designed to develop body awareness using basic dance exercises and movement. Using props, scarves and musical instruments will aid in learning rhythm and music appreciation. We dance, skip and turn to a variety of music. Must be 3 years old before first class.

Dance Movement II – Structured for children age 5 to 7. This class prepares the young student for the Pre Ballet class, geared more towards classical ballet movement, developing motor skills and coordination. Introduces turnout and expands on learning more foot and arm positions, with additional ballet steps.

Pre Ballet – Focuses on developing motor skills and coordination through structured ballet movement for age 8 to 10. Students are introduced to more ballet terminology. Must be 8 years old before first class.

Ballet I – Requires at least one year of recent training. Class is structured for age 10 and up. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Ballet II – Requires at least two years of recent training from the age of 8, more years preferred. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Ballet III – Requires at least three years of recent training from the age of 8, more years preferred. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Ballet IV – Requires at least four years of recent training from the age of 8, more years preferred. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Ballet V / VI – Structured for the more advanced student. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Pre Jazz – Focuses on coordination, rhythm, music awareness while learning basic jazz movement. Class structured for students age 8 and up. Must be 8 years old before first class.

Jazz I / Advanced Beginner Level – Designed with appropriate jazz movement for age 10 and up. Emphasis placed on isolations, motor steps and footwork using proper alignment and jazz technique. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Jazz II / Intermediate Level – Reinforces elements taught and used in Jazz I. Expands into learning more complex combinations, jumps and multiple turns, and works on developing more control. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Jazz III / Advanced Level – This fast-paced class is designed for the more advanced student and works with more involved choreography including a variety of jumps and leaps with multiple turns and quick footwork. Explores various styles of jazz dance. Class placement with Instructor permission only.

Preschool Tap – Structured for children age 5 to 7. This class introduces simple tap rhythms to introduce music awareness. Must be 5 years old before first class.

Pre Tap – Focuses on articulation of feet to begin sound clarity and rhythms for an introduction to more complex combinations. Structured for children age 8 to 10. Must be 8 years old before first class.

Tap I / Advanced Beginner Level – Requires at least two years of recent training. Structured for age 10 and up. This class introduces faster paced combinations using a variety of musical styles. Class placement with Director permission only.

Tap IA / Advanced Beginner Level – Structured for the pre-teen with at least two or more years of recent training and the teen just starting out. This class has faster paced combinations using a variety of musical styles. Class placement with Director permission only.

Tap II / Intermediate Level – Requires at least three years of recent training, more years preferred. Structured for age 12 and up. Fast, complex rhythms are taught using theatre, classical and rhythm tap styles. Musicality is a major focus introducing a variety of meters as well as syncopation. Class placement with Director permission only.

Tap III / High Intermediate-Low Advanced Level
Tap IV / Advanced Level – These classes are quick paced offering a variety of challenging dance styles. Hard toe tap shoes recommended. Class placement with Director permission only.
